If so, #BirdWeekly is the photo challenge for you!

Be as creative as you want as long as you meet each challenge. Don’t get chased around like I did by this guy!

How Does It Work?

Bird Weekly Photo Challenge runs from Friday through Thursday. I will set the challenge by 9am ET every Friday. Started June 12, 2020!

This weekly bird photo challenge is topic related.  For a list of upcoming topics, please see the list at the bottom of this page. I will list a few weeks in advance to give you an opportunity to go out and find your birds. Archival images would be great too!

• Week #1 – Song Birds
• Week #2 – Birds with Yellow Feathers
• Week #3 – Waders
• Week #4 – Ducks and Geese
• Week #5 – Feathers of Blue
• Week #6 – Woodpeckers | Sapsuckers | Flickers
• Week #7 – Any bird (your choice) in black & white or sepia tone
• Week #8 – Birds at the feeder
• Week #9 – Birds of Prey
• Week #10 – Yellow or Orange Legged Birds

• Week #26 – Birds beginning with the letter “B” (If a bird has more than one word in the name, you can use it, ie: Rusty Blackbird or Blue Jay)
• Week #27 – Birds with red feathers
• Week #28 – Birds near or in the water or snow
• Week of Christmas – NO BIRD WEEKLY – ENJOY YOUR HOLIDAY
• Week #29 – Birds with long wingspans
• Week #30 – Birds beginning with the letter “C” (If a bird has more than one word of the name, you can use it, ie: Double-Crested Cormorant or Common Redpoll)
• Week #31 – Butts in the Air (birds, like ducks who dive and have nothing but their tail sticking up). Please try to identify the bird for us since we may or may not be able to from that end.
• Week #32 – Birds with brown feathers
• Week #33 – Birds on a wire or fence
• Week #34 – Birds beginning with the letter “D” (if a bird has more than one word of the name, you can use it as long as it begins with a “D”, ie: Double-crested Cormorant or Wood Duck)
• Week #35 – Birds you love. Your favorite birds if you can choose a few. Maybe explain why you love them so much! Why they would make a great Valentine??? LOL!
• Week #36 – Hawks
• Week #37 – Birds with white feathers
• Week #38 – Birds beginning with the letter “E” (if a bird has more than one word of the name, you can use it as long as it begins with a “E”, ie: Egyptian Goose or Bald Eagle)
• Week #39 – Birds that eat fish as their primary diet.
• Week #40 – Black & white or sepia (monochrome) your choice of birds.
• Week #41 – Reflections as in a mirror reflection of the bird and itself. Your choice of birds!
• SPRING BREAK – NO BIRD WEEKLY THIS WEEK. It is our anniversary so we will be out birding!
• Week #42 – Birds you saw within the past two weeks. (4/9/21)
• Week #43 – Birds with chicks. (4/16/21)
• Week #44 – Birds beginning with the letter “F” (if a bird has more than one word of the name, you can use it as long as it begins with a “F”, ie: Ferruginous Hawk or House Finch) (4/23/21)
• Week #45 – Birds in flight (4/30/21)
• Week #46 – Birds perched up on anything (5/7/21)
• Week #47 – Birds with a color in their name (Yellow Warbler, White Ibis) (5/14/21)
• Week #48 – Birds beginning with a “G” (if a bird has more than one word of the name, you can use it as long as it begins with a “G”, ie: Green Heron or Common Gallinule) (5/21/21)
• Week #49 – Black and white photos of birds with a spot of color (technical challenge). Your choice of birds. (5/28/21)
• Week #50 – Two or more bird species in one photograph. (6/4/21)
• Week #51 – Birds with stripes, spots or freckles. (6/11/21)

• NO BIRD WEEKLY THIS WEEK! I’m still recovering from surgery but getting stronger every day. Hold on to your “H” birds for next week. I will do Sarah’s Long Tailed Birds round up next week also. Extra week to get those in. (6/25/21)

• Week #55 – Bird Headshots!
• Week #56 – Birds with more than one color of feathers.
• Week #57 – Black & white or sepia (monochrome) your choice of birds.
• Week #58 – Bird photos that were not quite perfect. A little blurry, not quite in focus. The one that got away.
• Week #59 – Birds beginning with a “I or J” (if a bird has more than one word of the name, you can use it as long as it begins with a “I or J”, ie: White Ibis or Dark-eyed Junco)
• Week #60 – Birds with gray feathers.
• Week #61 – Birds with a round head.
• Week #62 – Birds with a tufted head.
• Week #63 – Black & white or sepia (monochrome) your choice of birds.
• Week #64 – Birds near or around a sign that can be read. Like a bird sitting on top of a stop sign.

This challenge is for hard core birders, backyard birding, novice nature lovers who happen to photograph birds and anyone who receives joy from watching & photographing birds. You DO NOT have to be a professional photographer to play along.

This challenge will accept and encourage original video footage, but YOU MUST HAVE AT LEAST ONE STILL PHOTO IN YOUR BLOG to go along with your video.

Be creative and challenge yourself.

1. If possible, tell us the species of the bird(s) and/or where you were when you took the photo. If you don’t know the bird species, maybe one of the followers can help you out in their comments. We are all here to teach and learn as well!
2. Then add a link to your blog in my comment box on my weekly post, not this page.
3. To make it easy for others to check out your photos and post, title your blog post “Bird Weekly Challenge” or use the “#BIRDWEEKLY” tag.
4. Create a pingback by copying my URL from MY POST for the week and link it inside your post. It will be different each week. You can get to my post if it has turned green on the weekly list above.
5. Remember to Follow My Blog to get your weekly reminders.
6. Use the BIRD WEEKLY Badge in your post if you choose to.
