The feature image is the top of the St. Marks Lighthouse at the St. Marks Wildlife Refuge just south of the Florida state capitol of Tallahassee. I am sharing a few of the Florida lighthouses that I have visited over the years. It is not the total list, but some of my favorites.

Every month the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum has a Sunset/Moonrise Tour where only a few can climb the 219 step cylinder lighthouse. It is $30.00 per person and well worth going up there and having a chance to watch the sunset and the moon rise in the same night.

SQUARES – Perspective – Ponce Lighthouse
Ponce de Leon Lighthouse is the tallest in Florida at 175 feet (53.34 meters) high and the second tallest in the United States behind the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in North Carolina. It is equipped with a Third Order Fresnel lens and shines out 17 nautical miles (32 kilometers or 20 miles).

My fascination with lighthouses goes back over 15 years when I started collecting them. It wasn’t until this year that we actually drove over to the St. Marks Wildlife Refuge that I finally checked this off my bucket list. It was a two-fer because we went over looking for the American Flamingo.
