Photos by Jez is the new host of WWE that is a weekly challenge posted on Monday.

Yesterday, December 27, 2020, Frank and I went out birding for the Christmas Bird Count (CBC) for the Audubon Society. We were given a parameter near our house to go see what species were around our area. Most of the song birds were in our yard as we have a lot of good food, but we found the waterfowl down at the Arlington Park Cemetery just about 1/4 mile from our house. Our birds were logged onto Ebird.org per the usual. The Canada Goose has become a permanent resident in Florida. There were 49 of them in the cemetery which is where Frank’s parents are spending their eternity. We stopped by to say hi and went about counting birds.

Those geese are everywhere! They used to migrate from here but don’t anymore as milder climates don’t necessitate the move. Looks like it might have been a good day yesterday.

I am so glad to hear that there seems to be regular bird counts in lots of countries now.

I havenโt logged birds in a few weeks because of how busy I was but Iโve done several bird counts in the past few days. We were birding all day today. Picked up 6 new species for the year. Going back out on New Years Eve for our final count of 2020. ๐

I went for a walk on my place today and heard a new bird on my place. Whipbirds have distinctive calls. No photos as they are a secretive bird.

That is a very cool looking bird. I hope they hang out at your place for a while so you can cleverly sneak up on them & get a photo. Thanks for sharing. Look forward to seeing you for bird weekly. ๐

They are gone. They get into the underbrush and scratch around the forest floor so quite hard to see.

Well, maybe they will be back. Still cool to know they were there, even for a few moments. ๐

It was fun. We had a big birding day today. Frank & I traveled to Gainesville. Thought of you when we saw all the gators. One was over 12 feet long. He was way on the other side from the boardwalk that we were on.

I don’t associate a 12 foot gator with fun… ๐

Of course. The birding was fun. The gators are just a byproduct of being outside and counting birds. Wait til you see this monster gator that was right on the bank sunny himself. Frank is crazier than I am. Iโll post it soon. ๐ I know you canโt wait. ๐

I’d consider the gator a major product, not a by product. Can’t wait to see crazy Frank and the gator ๐

I’ll find a reason to post those pics soon. Maybe Monday if I got water in the background. Can’t remember. I was concentrating on the big ass gator. I didn’t feel safe with this one and you will see why when I post it. ๐

They are invasive here. Reproducing at an alarming rate. I suspect a goose hunting season coming soon.

LOL! No thank you! I don’t eat birds. I struggle to eat chicken. It all happened after I had my gallbladder out over 7 years ago. Weird how I eat things I didn’t like before and can’t eat the things I did before the surgery. ๐

There hasn’t been anything “normal” about what happened with me 7 years ago. It took 2 years for them to figure out what was wrong and they didn’t. I went to another doctor outside the Veteran’s Administration and problem was solved in a month when I told them what I thought it was and to take it out. I was right but the after effects were strange to say the least. LOL! ๐
