For my final square for October, 2020, I thought I would share a photo of Halloween a couple of years ago. This year our house is bare of any Halloween decor with a great debate within me as to decorate or not and find a safe way to hand out treats during the pandemic. I chose to not decorate at all which is a bummer for me. I love getting into the spirit of dressing up myself. This is Frank as the Bone Collector and definitely the Spooky Kind!
I just got an alert on my phone as I was writing this blog that there will be no handing out candy in Jacksonville. The police will be combing the neighborhoods. Glad I made the decision I did. It’s a lot of work and no reward to see all the kiddies dressed up being whomever they want to be for just one day!
I would love to invite you to see what our house looked like last year by visiting my blog from last Halloween. “A Neighborhood Haunting”

Sorry to hear you wonโt be celebrating one of your favorite days; I thought you lived on the west coast of Florida…

Nope! We live in Jacksonville on the east coast! The Atlantic is much more compelling than the Gulf of Mexico. I lived in Tampa for 21 years, but have been here since 2007. ๐

The further south you go, the hotter and more humid it gets. I mean sticky hot where you can’t breathe outside in the summertime hot. That’s why we like Jax. The high today was 85. Tomorrow is 65. The rest of the week, we will be in the high 70’s, low 80’s and other parts of Florida will be in the mid 80’s to 90’s. Ummm…NO! ๐

Well, then you get yourself retired and head south! LOL! ๐ Frankly…this is the worst climate for my allergies, but I don’t see leaving here permanently…EVER!

that’s the plan; glad to hear you like it so much there, despite the allergies!

Well, I can’t leave with my kids and grandkids within 3 1/2 hours away, however, when we retire, we are hooking up a travel trailer and hitting the road. Birding for a year or more across the US. I’ve lived in paradise for 33 years. ๐

we’ve also often thought about doing some sort of cross country trip in a van when we retire; seems like a great way to see the country…

Yes!!! It would knock a great deal of items off my bucket list on a trip like that. ๐

Frank looks amazing! Such a shame you cannot host again tonight, but at least you have the memories of previous years and the time to prepare for next!

Yes that is true. I just made some goodie bags and took them down to the neighborhood kids. I will be calling it a night in a bit. ๐ We turn back our clocks tonight so an extra hour of whatever! ๐

This is sad news, but it’s for the best I believe. I hope next year will be back to normal. ๐๐ป

Yes John it doesn’t even feel like Halloween. Plus it is the first full moon on Halloween since 1944 and it has been cloudy and raining tonight. OH WELL! ๐

We bought the sweets, just in case, but it’s not happening ๐ฆ

It didn’t happen here either. I guess there were trick or treaters in the neighborhood, but no one on our street was participating. Then it started raining just after it got dark. Didn’t stop until this morning. ๐
