Gift Items, Rubber Stamps and Decals….Oh MY! And more!!!
Hello, my fellow bloggers! I want to say thank you for keeping me sane during these dark days of the pandemic. As a lot of you know, I lost my job in March because of COVID-19. I have been collecting unemployment while looking for a new job. There are not many jobs for a 54 year old graphic designer. Plus, I’m not quite ready to retire…mentally YES, financially NO.
So about a month after I was laid off, I started formulating a possible plan in the event the economy took a nosedive and social distancing continued for months (which it has). A plan to create an income for myself when all the emergency stimulus and unemployment avenues no longer somewhat sustained me.
Looking into my crystal ball, I did not see a promising future! Sometimes you have to create your own path. Soon after the lay-off, I began work on a novel that I started 20 years ago. Got some momentum, but with the uncertainty of the pandemic, I panicked and decided to do what I know. What I know is products, custom design and customer service. I also know how long it takes to create a new business, so the novel took a backseat….again. I will eventually get it written, but this was much more important. I told Frank that I wanted to open an Etsy store and he didn’t blink an eye, plus he started getting excited about it himself. He will be creating some really cool products in the near future that I wouldn’t want to create.
Mental, physical and financial support by my hubby, Frank…viola…my little Etsy shop was born.
I apologize for my lack of attention to your blogs the way I was a few months ago, but most of my time has gone into product development and getting this store up and running. It’s been just about 6 weeks that the store has been active with just a few products. Thanks to people who enjoy a personal touch and a homemade product, I already have almost 80 sales. I uploaded my 50th product yesterday. New items are going up every week and I’m taking special requests. I’m designing and creating custom products for customers. I do a quick design, then proof and BOOM, product up, product ordered!
I have shipped all over the US, Canada, Germany and a new order came in yesterday from London. Overseas orders take longer, but once your proof is approved, I will make and ship it quickly. Same business day or next business day.
For those of you who have been following me for a while, you know I love birds! I have designed a couple of bird decals & bird stamps, but you can bet there will be all kinds of products with birds, COMING SOON.
I hope you will visit my shop and support me in my new endeavor. Keep checking back for new products and hope you love what you see. If you have questions or would like to see something, I would be glad to design it for you. I’d love it if you followed me on Instagram – oureyesopendesigns

Brilliant. You’re the second blogger I know opened an Etsy storefront, great to see people showing an initiative. I guy my wife’s christmas present, a couple years ago, from a guy on Etsy. Turned out he was a guy in Vladivostok, so no way would I have found him otherwise.

That is wonderful! Etsy shop owners tend to take pride in their hand made products. Iβm no exception either. I take pride in what I make & just want the customer to have a great experience & product. π
