This week Jim Adams has prompted us with choosing songs involving Cool | Freeze | Heat | Melt for this week’s Song Lyric Sunday.
“I Melt” is a sexy tune by Rascal Flatts. Gary LeVox, Jay Demarcus & Joe Don Rooney make up the three prominent members of the group. “I Melt” was written by Gary LeVox, Neil Thrasher & Wendell Mobley.
Gary and Jay are second cousins from a musical family. DeMarcus had become the bandleader of Chely Wright’s band where he met Joe Don Rooney, Chely’s guitarist. One night DeMarcus & LeVox were working in a Printer’s Alley nightclub when their part-time guitarist couldn’t make it one night. DeMarcus invited Rooney to join them. A bond was instantly formed! Rascal Flatts was signed to Lyric Street Records in late 1999. “I Melt” was released in July 2003 as the third single from the band’s 2002 album “Melt”.
The music video was filmed in Miami, Florida and directed by Robert Deaton & George Flanigan. The video made headlines in USA Today when it debuted on CMT on June 28, 2003 because it was the first video showing nudity to air on the network. A shot of Joe Don Rooney’s bare buttocks and model Christina Auria taking a shower in the nude was banned by Great American Country when the group refused to release an edited version.

After 20 Years, the Country Music Vocal Group, Rascal Flatts announced their Farewell Tour in January, 2020 on “CBS This Morning”.
The Rascal Flatts Farewell – Life is a Highway Tour was cancelled for 2020 due to the pandemic. They are still scheduling appearances with the next one on November 6th at Winstar World Casino & Resort in Thackerville, Oklahoma. They have streaming events that popup on their news feed on their website.

“I Melt”
When you light those candles Up there on that mantle Setting the mood I just lie there staring, silently preparing To love on you I can feel the heat from across the room Ain't it wild what a little flame can make you wanna do I melt Every time you look at me that way It never fails Any time, any place This burn in me is the coolest thing that I've ever felt I melt Don't know how you do it I love the way I lose it every time And what's even better Is knowing that forever you're all mine The closer you get, the more my body aches One little stare from you is all it takes I melt Every time you look at me that way It never fails Any time, any place This burn in me is the coolest thing that I've ever felt I melt I melt Every time you look at me that way It never fails Any time, any place This burn in me is the coolest thing that I've ever felt I melt Every time you look at me that way I melt I melt Source: LyricFind Songwriters: Gary Levox / Neil Thrasher / Wendell Mobley I Melt lyrics Β© Sony/ATV Music Publishing LLC, Warner Chappell Music, Inc, Major Bob Music, Inc, / Rio Bravo Music, Inc, / Castle Bound Music, Inc, / Hanna Bea Songs, Downtown Music Publishing, Reservoir Media Management Inc

I wonder if CMT played this video without censoring it? Really nice choice.

As far as I know, CMT didn’t censor it and then pulled it when Great American Country banned it. I don’t remember if it was blurred out, but I know it was the first time CMT showed a video with nudity. I couldn’t find anything where they may have blurred it out.

I’ve always love this one! But I guess I missed a memo because I didn’t know they’d announced their farewell tour prior to the strike of the dark menace of covid19.
Great share!

I know. I hope this changes their mind. Maybe they are writing songs being cooped in. π
